Banesco USA, Coral Gables, moved up to the 12th place of banks in South Florida, according to the Business Journal of South Florida (SFBJ). Banesco USA performance is due to a sound growth on loans granted.

The Business Journal gathered the key performance figures of all 54 banks operating in South Florida based on information provided by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC).

The top 15 banks in performance of South Florida based on assets remained practically the same in the second quarter over the prior quarter.

Banesco USA, Coral Gables, moved up to the 12th place beating out Century Bank, Coral Gables, which beat out Banesco USA, Coral Gables, in the last quarter.

According to the SFBJ, the banks in South Florida continued approving a large number of loans in the second quarter of the year, and reduced the number of foreclosures.

Eight local banks earned more than 50 million US dollars in new loans and leases from March 31st to June 30th, increased in one million over the prior quarter. All together, the financial institutions in South Florida generated 2.83 billion US dollars in new loans in the second quarter.
